Avelo Airlines Pet Policy

Avelo Airlines allows small cats, dogs, rabbits, and birds to travel in-cabin. Your pet must be able to fit comfortably in a hard-sided or soft-sided container that can be stowed under the seat in front of you.

We allow for two types of containers – hard-sided and soft-sided. Hard-sided containers can be no larger than 17”L x 13”H x 9”W (43 cm x 33 cm x 22 cm), and soft-sided containers must be able to fit in the same space. We find that this allows for optimal storage while helping to keep everyone safe by preventing things from taking up too much space.

Space is limited for pets, so we recommend making a reservation in advance. You can do this by purchasing the pet add-on during your booking process or by calling our Customer Solutions Center at (346) 616-9500. Avelo Airlines allows up to eight (8) pet carriers per scheduled flight but there are circumstances where fewer than eight (8) pets are allowed. Customers are limited to no more than one (1) pet carrier per person. Each pet carrier can have no more than two (2) small cats, dogs, rabbits, or birds.

No, trained service animals do not count as pets and do not count toward the maximum number of pets permitted on board. Please note: Service animals in training will not be accepted by Avelo for transport. Any animal not qualifying as a service animal will be treated by Avelo as a pet and must adhere to the pet standards.

No. Pets must be secured in the pet carrier at all times while in the gate area, during boarding/deplaning and they must remain in the carrier for the entire duration of the flight.

Customers traveling with pets will board with their normal boarding group unless they qualify for preboarding or have purchased Priority Boarding.

To make getting through security as easy as possible, we recommend that you arrive at the airport early and have all of your documentation ready. Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with your contact information. Customers will be asked to hold the pet and walk through the screening device while the carrier is inspected.
