Avelo Airlines Launches New Service Between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City

BURBANK, Calif. and SALT LAKE CITY, May 4, 2021 — America’s first new mainline airline in nearly 15 years — Avelo Airlines — commences service today between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. With one-way fares starting at $19, Avelo is ushering in a new era of choice, low fares and convenience between these two popular outdoor recreation destinations.

Avelo will serve Salt Lake City’s Ogden-Hinckley Airport (OGD) and Los Angeles’ Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) — both more convenient, stress-free alternatives to the two major international airports in these markets. Flight XP107 departs BUR daily at 11:10 a.m. arriving OGD at 2:00 local time; flight XP108 departs OGD at 2:40 p.m., arriving BUR at 3:40 p.m. local time.

OGD provides Customers with fast and smooth access to Greater Salt Lake City and seamless ground transportation to Utah’s numerous mountain and outdoor retreats. Customers departing OGD will experience convenient parking just steps away from their terminal, no crowds, convenient bag check, and a low-stress check-in experience.

BUR, named the 2019 “Best U.S. Airport” by Fodor’s Travel, offers customers traveling to or from Greater Los Angeles a refreshingly hassle-free experience, including seamless curbside pickup and drop-off, smaller crowds, shorter walking distances from curb to gate, unrivaled speed for plane-to-carousel bag delivery, and shorter TSA security lines. No airport is closer to downtown LA, Hollywood, Pasadena and other attractions throughout Southern California, making BUR the ultra-convenient, stress-free gateway to Greater LA.

“We are excited to bring our surprisingly low fares to Salt Lake City, the region’s famed ski resorts, and the over 170,000 acres of national forest,” said Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. “Customers are just a short ride from FrontRunner, the quick and convenient commuter rail system between Salt Lake City and Provo, creating a new and affordable connection for Southern Californians looking to explore some of the best that Utah has to offer.”

The route will be served by 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, one of the most fuel-efficient commercial aircraft in the world, providing Customers with a large, comfortable cabin with more room, more seats and more seating options than the regional aircraft typically serving the airports in Avelo’s network.

Tom Christopulos, Director of Ogden’s Community and Economic Development Department said, “Ogden City is excited to welcome Avelo Airlines to the Ogden-Hinckley Airport. The Los Angeles area is the top destination for air travelers from the Ogden area. Avelo will serve this market with the added convenience of direct flights to and from the Ogden Airport. We are pleased to expand our commercial air service at the Ogden-Hinckley Airport.”

OGD offers leisure and business visitors from the Los Angeles area more cost effective, convenient access to the Greater Salt Lake City area and all that it has to offer.

“The new flight offered by Avelo Airlines is a great opportunity for our many visitors from the Greater LA area to have easy, direct access to our amazing year-round outdoor recreation amenities,” said Sara Toliver, CEO of Visit Ogden. “The near daily service will also provide business travel opportunities through the enhanced convenience the flight will provide.”

Expanding commercial air service out of OGD is a key component of the airport’s long-term plan, as well as the city’s economic development strategy. OGD continues to grow with general aviation and aerospace development.
